Before operating the crane, trainees on the Vessel HIAB training course learn why thorough pre-use checks and proper maintenance are essential. They also work through the process of planning a lift, assessing the load and selecting suitable lifting equipment and lifting accessories. Understanding what equipment is required, and ensuring that it’s appropriate and in good condition, is an important part of carrying out lifting operations safely.
Practical elements of the Vessel HIAB course enable participants to develop their operating skills, including the use of basic crane signals and the safe operation of the crane. The training also covers completing a lifting operation correctly and stowing the crane safely afterwards.
