If you’re looking for MEWP training, Lowestoft based Carl Wright Training Services are your go-to local provider. We orient our training to our clients’ needs.
Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) are machines designed to lift workers safely to elevated working positions, making them useful for tasks such as maintenance, construction and installation work. However, operating a MEWP comes with potential hazards, including overturning, falls from height, collisions with nearby structures, entrapment, and contact with overhead obstructions or power lines. Uneven ground, poor environmental conditions and inadequate pre-use checks can also increase the risk of accidents. That’s why suitable training is essential for anyone operating this equipment.
At Carl Wright Training Services, we provide ITSSAR-accredited MEWP training to help operators develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely and confidently. Whether you’re new to MEWP operation, have previous experience or need to refresh your existing skills, we offer courses to suit your level of competence.
Our novice course is designed for delegates with little or no previous experience and runs over five days. Experienced operators who haven’t received training recently can attend our two-day course to improve their skills and knowledge. We also offer a one-day refresher course for experienced operators who already hold an accredited certificate and need periodic refresher training.
The training covers the basic operation of MEWPs, relevant legislation and safe practical use. Delegates learn about employer and employee duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act, the principles of stability and instability, and how to interpret the rated capacity plate. The course also covers assessing ground and environmental conditions, the importance of maintenance and pre-use checks, and establishing emergency rescue plans and procedures.
Practical training includes carrying out pre-use checks, inspecting and operating harnesses, lanyards and fall protection equipment, assessing conditions before setting up, and operating the MEWP safely and sympathetically.
On successful completion, delegates receive an ITSSAR-accredited certificate and ID card.
Investing in MEWP training helps improve operator competence, reduce workplace risks and support safer working at height.
