We run the CCNSG 2 Day National course, designed to give personnel the knowledge they need to work safely and understand their responsibilities on engineering construction sites.
So, what exactly is CCNSG training? The Client Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) Safety Passport is an industry-recognised scheme associated with the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB). Its purpose is to establish a consistent level of basic safety awareness for people working on engineering construction sites. Successfully completing the course leads to an ECITB CCNSG Safety passport card, which is valid for three years.
The two-day CCNSG National course looks at the wider context of safety within the engineering construction industry as well as the practical issues workers need to understand on site. Delegates are introduced to the history and role of engineering and construction in the UK, including the importance of productivity and how effective working practices can contribute to a successful project.
Safety is of course the focus the course. Delegates explore the benefits of holding a safety passport and the importance of safe behaviour at work. The CCNSG Safety Passport training course also examines the causal factors behind incidents and accidents, helping participants understand how unsafe situations can develop and what can be done to prevent them.
An understanding of the legal framework is another important part of the CCNSG training. Delegates learn about relevant law and enforcement, as well as the potential consequences of poor safety performance or a failure to maintain appropriate standards.
The course also covers the hierarchy of control, together with hazards, risks and risk control. These subjects help delegates develop a clearer understanding of how workplace risks should be identified and managed.
